2024 OGGP
The mission of Team Oxford Greens Goes Pink is to support the “Seymour Pink” charity by participating in their annual fundraising campaign and forming a team of walkers/runners to take part in their “Pound the Pavement for Pink” 5-K event in downtown Seymour.
It is important that the team participates in the 5-K event in Seymour in order to demonstrate our support for the tremendous work that the Seymour Pink charity does. And, to demonstrate our support for the victims of breast cancer. Also, by participating in the event and wearing a OGGP team T-Shirt, you are also demonstrating your pride in our community.
When is the event?
Saturday, October 5, 2024. The race kicks off at 9:00 AM; we begin lining up at 8:30 AM. Parking is limited in Seymour; participants need to leave the community NLT 7:30 AM.
How much does it cost to register for the event?
The discounted registration fee in July is $25 plus an online registration fee and tax. The registration fee increases in August and September. Registration usually ends the first week of September.
How do I register?
Registration is only available via the “RunSignUp” online system. You can access our team portal via the [JOIN] button on the home page of the OGGP website. http://www.oggp.org, or click the link at the bottom of the page.
When does registration begin?
Registration opens on July 1st. Registration for Team OGGP ends on August 31st.
Are there any limits on the size of the team this year?
No, there are not.
Can I participate as a "virtual" team member?
Yes. You can join the team as a virtual member and walk on your own anytime the weekend of the race.
How long is the race?
The race is 3.1 miles. Most people complete the race in about an hour.
What if I can’t do the full 3.1 mile race?
Contact Bob McCarney for advice.
Why should I do the race?
It’s fun. There is a sense of community and camaraderie to the race. Also, there is free pizza, ice cream and other goodies after the race as well as mimosas for our team.
What do I wear for the race?
Our team has its own OGGP T-Shirts. We prefer that our members represent our community by wearing an OGGP shirt. However, it is optional. Many people wear costumes. Also, you have the option of electing to receive a “pounding the pavement for pink t-shirt” as part of your registration.
How much do the OGGP team T-Shirts cost?
We have a limited number of OGGP shirts in stock in assorted sizes. They are $10. You pay for the shirts when we distribute the race bibs and swag. (Oct 2nd and 3rd at the Ridge Club)
Do I have to be a resident to participate?
Technically, no…but it helps if you have a connection with someone that lives in the community. The main problem is getting the shirts and race bibs to you. We can’t deliver them to people; you must pick them up.
